DEI+

The DEI grant is aimed at entrepreneurs who are working on reducing CO2 emissions, or investing in renewable energy sources. Consider, for example, wind energy, solar energy and geothermal energy. Which projects are eligible for DEI+?
The focus of projects eligible for a DEI+ grant is on innovative technologies, solutions that reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to the energy transition. The themes and criteria may vary per year or grant round, but in general the following types of projects are eligible:

• Pilot and demonstration projects: Projects that test and demonstrate new technologies or processes in a practical environment, with the aim of rolling them out on a larger scale;
• Energy innovation projects: Projects that focus on the development and demonstration of innovative technologies that save energy or generate sustainable energy;
• CO2 reduction projects: Projects that specifically focus on reducing CO2 emissions in industry, mobility, built environment or agriculture;
• Circular economy: Projects that contribute to closing material cycles and reducing raw material use;
• Renewable energy projects: Projects aimed at generating sustainable energy, such as solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, and bioenergy.
• System integration: Projects that contribute to the integration of sustainable energy sources into the energy system, for example through energy storage or smart networks.

• The projects have a maximum duration of 4 years;
• The project has added value for the Dutch economy;
• Costs after commissioning within the DEI+ scheme are not eligible;
• Wage costs are only included if they are directly related to the investment;
• For demonstration projects: reference investments have been increased (no zero reference).

There are more conditions attached to this arrangement, but these differ per theme. We would like to inform you about this.

In 2024 it will be possible to apply for the DEI+ until August 29 at the latest. Your proposal will be assessed and ranked by independent experts. If your application is ranked sufficiently high and there is still sufficient budget available, you will receive a grant.

What to think about in terms of work?

• Assess how your energy and/or climate innovation fits within one of the modules of the DEI+ grant scheme.
• Prepare, draft and submit a project idea, with which we can assess the project content together with RVO.
• If RVO gives a positive response to the project idea, you will receive support to write and submit the project plan, the budget and the mandatory appendices.
• Submit the grant application on time and in accordance with the latest grant legislation and terms to the grant provider.
• Act as a contact person for the grant provider and provide support in answering any questions.
• If desired, setting up project administration and providing support in maintaining the grant administration.
• If desired, support in determining the DEI+ grant after the end of the project period.
